Health·y Com·mu·ni·ty (noun): a successful and resilient place that thrives economically, socially, and environmentally by preparing for and adapting to changing conditions and the challenges they bring. In a healthy community, you have the choice of affordably living near your work; with shops, parks, schools, and locally-grown food accessible by foot, bicycle, or public transit.

AboutStarted in 2011, each Healthy Communities Forum targets decision makers, community leaders, labor, developers, affordable housing advocates, business leaders, and environmentalists to come together and explore how the various facets of the health of our cities - economic, environmental, and social - intersect and most often relate with land use decisions. At each Forum, visionary speakers share their knowledge related to a specific aspect of a healthy community, followed by participants breaking out into groups and engaging in dialogue to connect the vision of a healthy community to their own community and discuss ideas for making their communities "healthier."
Our goal is for participants to continue the conversation in their city about the structural changes to come in our region and strategies to ensure that their city becomes a healthier place - socially, environmentally and economically. You can continue the conversation started at a Healthy Communities Forum in a variety of ways. The "Take Action" page offers some suggestions for how you can become involved in discussing important questions and making them part of the dialogue and decision making process in your community.
